I think this is a really funny photo of me from my childhood. Mom liked to make me wear these spiffy hats that coordinated with my outfits (note the fluff on the collar/hood). She also tried to get my hair to curl, but that's another story. Anyway, I have very distinct memories of this fluffy hat - mostly that I didn't like it and it made my head itch. Probably all that polyester!
Right now I'm having a great time teaching weaving for the Fiber Network at their studio in Lewisburg, WV. My students are currently working on designing their own projects. Hopefully I'll have some photos to put here sometime soon.
I spent a couple of years weaving on old looms at Colonial Williamsburg, so people sometimes ask me to look at their old looms. Imagine my surprise when I recognized this loom at the museum in Wytheville. I once owned this very loom! The folks at the museum had it put in working order, and now it's used to demonstrate weaving. How cool is that?
One of the other fun things I enjoy is English Country Dance. Don't know what that is? Check out the Blacksburg Historical Dance Society website.
